Vampire Hunter for President.

If there is ever a vampire apocalypse, I'll make sure to have a silver-plated ax handy. This is one of those films that gets you pumped up but in reality we would all just beg for mercy. Regardless,  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter provides a clever twist on the life of the nation's 16th president.

The film begins with Lincoln's early experiences with slavery which results in the murder of his mother. That gives him enough incentive to embark on a killing spree of cold-blooded, blood-sucking, creatures of the night.

Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) fights off agile vampires with a tremendous amount of strength, the ability to disappear, and a full set of what looks like piranha teeth on steroids. The movie takes place during the Civil War Era and explains the real reason behind slavery in the South. The southern regime is lead by the villainous stone-hearted Adam (Rufus Sewell).

Even though the film involves mostly blood and decapitated vampire heads, it does include a fair share of romance. During his quests to murder various vampires in Springfield, Abe. Lincoln meets the love of his life; Mary Todd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The couple eventually marry and settle down.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter settles down at this point as well. Lincoln drifts toward his politician side and retires his murderous days. The film lags a bit and begins to bore the audience. But it quickly picks itself up and ends with a punch. The movie receives a 6.2/10 in my book since the movie wanes for some time. Check out the trailer below.
