This 1980 horror film classic set the standards for many movies to come. The cast is amazing. But nothing says crazy like Jack Nicholson with an ax.
For those of you who have never read the book or seen the movie, it is definitely terrifying.
The story is of Jack Torrance (Nicholson) and his family who spend the winter at an isolated hotel where Jack has been assigned the job of caretaker. But within the historic Colorado hotel lies an evil presence that slowly takes over Jack. While all this is happening, his son Danny discovers that he holds psychic powers which leads him to learn the horrors of the hotel.
The Shining is one of the greatest movies of all time. Why? Because it's actually scary. I found myself hiding under my sheets and slowly crying while eating popcorn. I highly recommend this film. And if you choose, you can also watch the TV film series of 1997.
The Shining deserves a 8.2/10 and earns a spot on my top 10.
